This lush horticultural oasis in the heart of dairy country boasts a nationally significant plant collection featuring rhododendrons, azaleas and a stunning mix of native and exotic species. Established in the 1920s by renowned plantsman Bernie Hollard, the garden is a living legacy of his passion for horticulture. Year-round, Hollard Gardens hums with the activity of birds and insects feasting on seasonal flowers, fruits and seeds. There’s something here for everyone.

What’s on 30 Oct – 8 Nov:

Free entry, no bookings required, unless otherwise specified.

Every day: Jodi Naik Art Exhibition and Open Studio, 10am – 3pm. Bernie’s Shed Pop-up Cafe, 9am – 2pm.
31 Oct & 7 Nov: Morning yoga session within a beautiful gallery space, 9am. Suits all levels, essential to register via Eventbrite – numbers limited. $10pp paid on arrival.
1 Nov: Gardener’s Guided Walk, 10am – 11.30am.
4 Nov: Walk and Talk with the Rhododendron Collections Officer, 10am – 11.30am.
7 Nov: Guided Walk and Talk with the Head Gardener, 10am – 11.30am.

Entry FREE. Open all day, every day, 30th Oct – 8th Nov. NZ Garden Trust 5 star award and Qualmark Gold award.
