Tupare is an Arts and Crafts inspired property, established in 1932 by the Matthews family. Sculpted into a hillside above the Waiwhakaiho River, it features a Chapman-Taylor house set in grounds with secluded garden rooms, elegant borders and majestic trees.
There are free garden tours at 2pm daily during the festival and free house tours half-hourly from 10am to 12.30pm. The mobility shuttle runs half-hourly from 9.45am – 12.15pm. Garden tours at other times can be booked for a fee on the website.
Please let us know if you are bringing a large group during this busy time. Taranaki Symphony Orchestra play in the garden during the first weekend of the festival and there will be an art exhibition by Anna Scott in the Gardener’s Cottage during the second weekend.
Tupare is open all day, every day and entry is free. It’s owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council.
